The Chronicle of Monday:
I’ve been wanting to write about this since… well, Monday.
I took the day off of work because I had to get my temporary crown replaced with the permanent. I decided that, even though it wouldn’t take the whole day to do so, it would probably be good for me to get a few things done, like getting my name changed. Seemed like a good plan.
First things first – I went to the Social Security Administration. Now when it comes to a choice between the SSA and the dentist… woof. That’s a tough one. Hard to decide which is worse. I got to the building around 8:30, and didn’t realize until well after I got there that it doesn’t open until 9. Whoops. Oh well, I was third in line. I really only took me about 15 minutes to get all of my business taken care of. Moving on, I called the INS to find out if I should drive over to the Immigration offices to get my green card changed. They said no, go ahead and go home and fill it out by mail. Sounds good to me, one less trip.
Get home, look up the INS papers: “In order to update your name on your green card, you must appear at the Immigration Office in person.”
FAN-TAS-TIC.
Oh well, next step? I went to Lowe’s to look at painting supplies for the baby room. I brought my baby blanket with me so I could pick the right colors. I was there for over an hour, and got exactly the colors I wanted. Then I had to start picking out supplies. What do I get? I dunno, but I have to go to my dentist appointment now. So I have to leave everything at Lowe’s, and hit the road.
Hooray! I get to have my temporary crown replaced! The dentist pulled off my little temp, and showed me the brand new, permanent porcelain crown. It was so pretty. He had me open my mouth, and he pressed it right into place. “A perfect fit!” he says, “Now go ahead and bite down on it to make sure it’s all right.” Sure, I think. Let’s make sure this is all good. I bite down, and feel the crown shatter into pieces in my mouth.
FAN-TAS-TIC.
Really, not a total loss because at least it happened while I was in the office, and I don’t have to pay for the replacement.
As a finale to my day, I picked up all of my painting supplies. I came home, so very excited to get started – I couldn’t help myself. I spent the rest of the day stripping wall paper.
I’ve taken pictures of every step so far, but I’m not going to begin painting until this weekend. I’ll post pictures of the transformation (before & after) as soon as I’m done!
That was my Monday. What a great day.
